SmallBiz, as a division of Data Abstraction, is a Microsoft Authorized Education Reseller (AER). A Microsoft AER is authorized to sell Academic Edition Full Package Product and certain academic volume software licenses. Through academic licenses, we are able to offer special discounts on Microsoft products to education and other qualifying institutions. These organisations are entitled to substantial discount from the regular retail prices of Microsoft products.

A Microsoft retail software product is aimed at home and business users and can only be installed on one computer. On the other hand, Microsoft offers volume software licenses to organisations that have many computers. Depending on the number of computers and applications running on them, you can purchase one volume license. The more the computers and applications, the cheaper the licenses will be.

Users who qualify for Microsoft academic license:

-   South African accredited educational institutions and its administrative offices

-   Faculty and staff of an accredited educational institution. Full and part time matriculated students also qualify

-   Public libraries that provide basic general library service without charge

-   Public museums organized on a permanent basis essentially for educational and aesthetic purposes

-   Non-profit charitable organizations aiming to relief poverty, advance education, advance social and community welfare, advance culture and natural environment.
